British nationals require a visa to become residents of Romania. This may sound scary at first, however the process is not complex and we help you navigate through the process at every step. And there's more on the positive side. Most British citizens receiving a UK State Pension are eligible for an S1 form, that entitles to free healthcare in Romania too.
The very first step is to request an S1 form. This can be done online or on the phone following the instructions on this page: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/moving-abroad/planning-your-healthcare/
The next step is to apply for a Romanian long-stay visa. This isn't required for tourists, however, it is required for those who apply for a resident permit.
This can be done online on the https://evisa.mae.ro/ website.
When the long-stay visa is issued it is possible to move on to the last step, apply for a resident permit.

The resident permit concludes the formal process and one will be entitled to live in Romania as a resident until the resident permit expires. Extending the resident permit is a much simpler process and can be completed from Romania, without traveling to the UK.
Worry not, our specialised staff will help you at every step to fill the forms, and translate documents and communication where required, both in the UK and Romania.
